The Hokkaido Teachers of English Program
(HTEP) began as an intensive English language, culture and pedagogy
immersion for English teachers in Hokkaido in 2001.
The program had two major components. Program Components 1. A 4-week language-culture-pedagogy immersion for 12 English teachers from Hokkaido takes place in May - June in the Department of Secondary Education, University of Alberta. Elementary, junior high, senior high teachers and a coordinator from the Hokkaido Board of Education participate.
2. The second component of HTEP takes place at Hokkaido Kyouiku Kenkyuusho - Hokkaido Education Research Institute ( DoKen) in Sapporo, Japan in June -July. It consists of three to four programs: A. an orientation to b, c and d. below for native speaking Assistant
Language Teachers (ALTs); C. a 4-day mini English language, culture and pedagogy immersion
for senior high teachers; and |
